Let’s take a closer look at the Business Innovation and Investment Visa (Subclass 188):

THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

To apply for a Business Innovation and Investment Visa, candidates must:

  • Be under the age of 55, except for the Significant Investor Stream
  • Score at least 65 points, except for the Significant Investor Stream
  • Provide proof of business success if applying for a business visa
  • Be nominated by a state or territory government, or Austrade, to invest in Australia when applying for an investment visa
  • Have at least functional English
  • Meet Australia’s health and character requirements

There isn’t one standard way to apply for a Business and Investment Visa. Instead, each stream of the visa has a unique application process. Please speak with our licensed advisor for advice.

Migrants must invest at least AUD2.5 million to get Australian residency. 

Migrants with at least AUD5 million to invest can apply for a Business Innovation and Investment Visa under the Significant Investor Stream

The advantage of the Significant Investor Stream is that it has fewer requirements than the Investor Stream.

Business Innovation and Investment Visa (Subclass 188) holders can apply for Australian permanent residence (PR) through the Business Innovation and Investment Visa (Subclass 888) if they meet the requirements. 

The Business Innovation and Investment Visa (Subclass 188) is valid for up to five years, after which eligible candidates can apply for PR.

Subclass 188 visa holders are not eligible for Medicare, Australia’s public healthcare system. However, visa holders who successfully apply for PR will be eligible for Medicare.
