Australian Visitor Visas are for tourism, visiting friends and family, and business visits.
The Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) lets foreigners holiday in Australia, visit family and friends, or visit Australia for business purposes.
The eVisitor Visa (Subclass 651) is for citizens and valid passport holders from 36 countries around the world. Successful applicants are allowed to holiday in Australia, visit family and friends, or visit Australia for business purposes.
The Subclass 600 visa and the Subclass 651 Visa are visitor visas. The Subclass 651 Visa is only known as the eVisitor Visa. It is only open to passport holders from certain countries.
The Subclass 600 visa is for tourism purposes, to visit family and friends, or to go on a cruise. It allows the visa holder to stay in Australia for the duration of the visa. The Department of Home Affairs usually issues the visa for three months.
The Subclass 651 Visa, on the other hand, allows the visa holder to undertake business visitor activities in addition to tourism activities as allowed by the Subclass 600 visa. Furthermore, the Subclass 651 Visa is granted for 12 months and allows multiple entries.
Australia grants the Visitor Visa either as a single entry or multiple entry visa. Visa applicants who get a multiple entry visa can enter and leave Australia as often as desired while their visa is valid.
The Visitor Visa is valid for up to three months if the visa applicant is travelling for business.
For holiday purposes, the Visitor Visa is valid for up to 12 months, with the duration decided on a case-by-case basis. The Department of Home Affairs will consider the applicant’s reason for their visit and how long they ask to stay when deciding on the duration of the visa.
The eVisitor Visa (Subclass 651) is valid for 12 months and allows for visits of up to three months at a time.
