WHAT THIS VISA ALLOWS:

Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417) holders can:

  • Take up short-term work to help pay for their holiday
  • Study in Australia for up to four months
  • Travel to and from Australia as often as desired
  • Do three months of specified work to become eligible for a second Working Holiday Visa

Visa applicants must have enough money to support themselves while in Australia and to leave Australia at the end of their stay.

The Department of Home Affairs put this amount at an average of AUD5,000, plus the fare to your next destination.

Passport holders from the following countries are eligible to apply for a Working Holiday Visa if they are over the age of 30 but not older than 35:

  • Canada
  • Denmark
  • France
  • Ireland
  • Italy

Visa applicants can stay in Australia for up to 12 months from their date of entry into Australia. Eligible candidates may also apply for a second and third Working Holiday Visa.
